Watercolor Painting

About me

Autumn 2018

Working  in watercolours and pastels I paint all that I find beautiful and inspiring in the world around me. Animals have always been a large part of my life and painting them is a joy that I return to again and again. I love the challenge of capturing their behaviour and charm. I  have been fortunate to travel a lot and wherever I find myself  I am drawn by the quality of the light and the unique features of that location. My work is both realistic and impressionistic depending on the subject. I spend a lot of my time out and about observing nature and animals and try to capture that quirkiness or essence in my work. I love doorways and windows particularly ones that are old or partially hidden. Colour and light inspire me and I am continually striving to capture that in my paintings to evoke different settings and places.

I've been a practicing artist and teacher of art for  many years. Through teaching art I have worked with all types of students in many countries. My art has enabled me to connect with people and places around the world. My career began in the UK and I am now settled back here in Suffolk producing my own work mainly in watercolours but also with pastels, oils' ceramics and silk.I use the media that feels right for the work and since was trained in multi- disciplinary design this is a natural process for me. I currently teach pastels, watercolour and animal portraiture at a local college and in my studio and run workshops in Saxmundham. I accept commissions and if you would like to know more your can contact me through the link on this website.
